5 Shoes Every Woman Must Own in her Closet

Shoes are important. They’re integral in making or breaking your outfits. Wearing the right shoe ensures that your entire outfit comes together nicely and you look your absolute best. We’ve bumped our heads together to curate a list of 5 must-have shoes in every woman’s closet. Read along to find out what they are.

Ballet Flats

Basic. Flat. All-rounder. Ballet Flats are probably your best bet when it comes to shoes. You can wear them every day to school and to work, or even to a party in the evening. With a plethora of colors, shapes, and designs that are available nowadays, you shouldn’t have a problem finding the perfect pair for you. We suggest opting for neutral colors and designs just so you can rock them under any dress.

Khussa/Juttis

Are you even desi if you don’t own a pair of khussas? They amp up any outfit giving you just the right amount of pizazz and fun. Wear it under shalwar kameez and you’ll look like a South Asian dream. Wear it under skinny jeans and you’ll rock the uber-chic Pak-Western vibe like no other. Just make sure to roll the hem of your jeans above the ankle for a much attractive silhouette. With so many color and material options to choose from, there is no way in the world you can go wrong with them. However, we suggest you always keep two things in mind while purchasing them. One, khussas made of pure leather last you much longer. Two, padded/cushioned soles ensure much comfortable wear.

Gladiator Sandals

They’re strappy, let your feet breathe, and ensure optimum wear for how insanely comfortable they are. Gladiator sandals look cute under any casual outfit, be it lawn or a T-shirt and jeans, but they look extra good when paired with long, flowy summer dresses. Just make sure that you have well-pedicured and painted feet when sporting these. Your feet really become the heroes of the show when wearing these.

Converse/Keds/Vans/Sperry’s

I know, I know. Not every girl is interested in wearing shoes that have laces to be tied. But trust me. You NEED them. For what? Well, for impromptu hiking trips with your family/friends, for the days when you do not want your feet to show (because of chipped toe-nails…shhh), and for the days when it unexpectedly rains and all that you’re left with is a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt, and shoes that just need to be slipped on. Trust me, you require them more than you think you do.

Stilettoes

Yeah. You surely can’t miss out on weddings and parties and formal get-togethers, right? Well, a pair of stilettoes wouldn’t ever steer you wrong. They can make even the plainest outfits look dressier and also correct your posture along the way. But make sure that you buy a pair that’s super comfortable, or else you’d keep cursing your decision to don them in the first place. Here are some things to consider:

  • The Length & Type of the Heel: Remember that the higher the heel, the more elevated your foot will be and hence the more uncomfortable they would be. Likewise, the thinner the heel, the more uncomfortable they would be. (Try recalling your Physics Stability lesson here)
  • The Platform: Again, we’d be talking about foot elevation here. A platform is the thickness of the shoe right below your toes. The thicker the platform, the less elevation your foot’s going to be at, and hence, the more comfortable your heels are going to be
  • The Straps: The buckles, straps, how they feel on the foot, all of that matters. Once you’re in the shop, make sure you wear the shoe and walk in it for 2-3 minutes. Make sure nothing pokes in your skin, your foot doesn’t burn, and that it feels snug and secure.
