Shafqat Mehmood says to start academic year from August

Shafqat Mehmood on Thursday said that the new academic year for schools will begin in August.

In response to a user’s question the education minister, however, said: “Academic year for schools will start this year from August.”


Shafqat Mehmood agreed with the user who wrote that the academic year should start from August.


Moreover, a user claimed that the PCTB had refused to give NOCs. They are not collecting requests leaving schools’ management in a fix. Therefore, Shafqat Mehmood responded to the user:

SNC to begin in next academic year on the direction of Shafqat Mehmood

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training announced that Pakistan will start the SNC in the next academic year, which will begin in August 2021

According to the ministry, the new year would now start in August 2021. It is because of an extension in examination dates which will be held in May/June and also prolonged school closures in the academic year of 2020.


Moreover, the ministry said that the SNC from pre-1 to grade 5 has been developed in discussion with area governments which all public and private schools will follow it.

Therefore, it will come into effect across all public and private schools in the next academic year.

The ministry said that all provincial and area governments received a letter regarding the Textbook Policy under the uniform curriculum.

In conclusion, new academic year with Single National Curriculum will start from August 2021.
