Federal Government Pledges Peaceful Resolution of AJK Crisis Through Dialogue

Islamabad: Ahead of a visit to Muzaffarabad, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, reiterated the federal government’s commitment to resolving the ongoing crisis in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) through dialogue, legal channels, and a cooperative approach.

Speaking to the media, Professor Iqbal said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a high-level committee to assess the ground realities and engage directly with stakeholders in the region. “We are making this visit to Muzaffarabad to closely review the situation and interact directly with the people,” he added.

He emphasized that the federal government is prepared to provide legal remedies wherever possible to address the legitimate grievances of the people. Acknowledging the patriotic sentiments of the residents of AJK, the minister appealed for calm and restraint.

“The current situation is sensitive both nationally and internationally, and some forces may try to exploit unrest in Pakistan for their own agendas. We must avoid actions that could threaten peace and stability,” he warned.

Professor Iqbal assured that the federal government fully understands the concerns of the people and will take all possible steps to resolve the issues peacefully and constructively. “We deeply respect the sentiments of the people of AJK and assure them that their genuine concerns will not be overlooked,” he concluded.
