Youngest congresswoman elected.
At the age of 29, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) made history as the youngest woman elected to 116th Congress and the youngest woman ever to serve in the US congress. In the biggest surprise of the 2018 midterm election primaries, she had upset 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley, the Democratic Caucus chair who had the support of the Governor (Cuomo), the Mayor (DiBlasio), and both of New York’s US Senators (Schumer and Gillibrand).
She was a self-proclaimed socialist and member of Democratic Socialists of America. Soon after the election, AOC became “the second most talked-about politician in America, after the United States president.” She was the “wonder woman of the Left” and the “wicked witch of the Right.” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) attended Boston University, where she double-majored in international relations and economics, graduating cum laude. She was previously an activist. She worked as a waitress and bartender to support her family before running for Congress in 2018. Ocasio-Cortez represents a district covering parts of the Bronx and Queens
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is known as AOC
Ocasio-Cortez — who is now widely known as “AOC” has led the charge on some of the most prominent, and most disputed, proposals from the Democrat-controlled House. She co-sponsored the Green New Deal, a legislative package that calls for a massive overhaul of the U.S. economy to combat climate change, and she has supported Medicare for All, free public college, and a 70% marginal tax rate for Americans making more than $10 million. She is a leading critic of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and called for the entire agency to be abolished.
Ocasio-Cortez has also become a social media icon and often uses Twitter to promote her policies, fight with her critics and cheer her fellow Squad members. She is by far the most popular House member on Twitter, with nearly 12.7 million followers.
From the moment Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) beat a ten-term incumbent in the primary election for New York’s 14th on June 26, 2018, her journey to the national, if not world, stage, was fast-tracked.
Six months later, as the youngest Congresswoman ever elected, AOC became one of a handful of Latina politicians in Washington, D.C. Not yet thirty, she inspires adulation; she represents her generation, the millennials, in many groundbreaking ways: proudly working-class, Democratic Socialist, of Puerto Rican descent, not to mention of the Bronx, feminist?
At the same time, the outpouring of vitriol against her has been formidable. But with her social-media savvy and sharp wit, she fights back, creating memes and quotable lines like Don’t hate me cause you ain’t me. She goes viral whenever she takes the floor, inspiring young progressives and frustrating conservatives.
AOC is working wholeheartedly for the people of her community. she is fighting for people’s rights. she is constantly raising her voice on justice She has given many people hope from the green new deal to her tireless support for the immigrants.
AOC is young but intelligent and immensely politically skilled. By raising her voice on important issues she reflects on what is really happening in the world.
Bernie Sanders is quoted as saying: “There are some politicians who are very good on policy, and there are some politicians who are good communicators, and there are some politicians that have a way about them that relates very well to ordinary people. Alexandria has all three of those characteristics. I have seen Ocasio-Cortez speak live several times and was amazed by her power as a public speaker. There are good reasons why people talk about her as a future senator or president.”

AOC serious and politically responsible, mature, and doing her job being a role model of what Democratic politics can be.
As a young millennial woman with much obvious brilliance and energy, she is a superb multitasker. While being an activist, inspiring politician and policy advocate, and being a responsible legislator. She appears to completely understand that it is possible to work at several levels simultaneously.
Being an idealist, an activist, and an adamant proponent of a broadly “democratic socialist” vision of social justice. She has behaved in a consistently politically serious and responsible way.
AOC knows how to gain attention, how to work with others, and get things done.
SHE IS A FEARLESS FIGHTER W\HO IS READY TO FACE CHALLENGES THAT COME HER WAY.
