Muslim actor Woman in the most recent Suicide Squad video game

Voice actors don’t always get the credit they merit, even though they play a crucial role in giving characters life. With the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, however, gamers are praising one unsung hero Muslim American voice actor Zehra Fazal on the internet.

The video game, which debuted to a lowly Metascore of 60, has won accolades for Fazal, who plays the much-desired Wonder Woman. The voice actress, who is well-known for her outstanding work lending her voice to a number of DC Comics characters, posted a trailer for Wonder Woman on Instagram last month and expressed her excitement about the role.

Sincerely, I think Zehra Fazal’s portrayal of Wonder Woman in Suicide Squad KTJL is one of the best moments in the entire game. “Yep, THAT is Diana,” is how I feel every time she talks. I sincerely hope that she will reprise her role as Diana in the future,” one person wrote on the microblogging site X.

The game is the most recent release in the critically praised Batman: Arkham series, which was started with the success of Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015. It was developed by Rocksteady Studios. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a DC Comics universe story that centers on four supervillains: Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark. These villains team up to stop the alien invader Brainiac and murder the Justice League members who have been brainwashed. In the game, Wonder Woman—played by Fazal—is one of the Justice League members.

Notable appearances as Fazal’s vast voice acting repertoire for DC Comics characters include Talia al Ghul in Batman: Death in the Family (2020) and Catwoman: Hunted (2022); Bluebird in the beloved series Young Justice (2010–2023); Noor Rashid in Gotham Knights (2022); and a number of characters, including the villain Livewire, in My Adventures with Superman (2023–).

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is noteworthy not only because of Fazal’s substantial contribution to the game but also because it is the last appearance of veteran Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, who passed away in November 2022. After multiple delays, the game was eventually released on February 2, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. It was first announced in August 2020.
