Actor-producer Arbaaz Khan has filed a defamation case against several social media users who alleged his involvement in the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his manager Disha Salian.
Sushant was found dead in his apartment on June 14, 2020, and probe into his death case is still going on. After Mumbai Police initially concluded the actor had committed suicide, the case was subsequently taken up by CBI, with Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) also joining the investigation.
Earlier this year, Arbaaz had filed a case against “Dabangg” director Abhinav Singh Kashyap, following the latter’s accusations that the Khan family had sabotaged his career.
Arbaaz Khan has filed a defamation suit at the Bombay Civil Court. Yesterday, on September 28th, the Court granted an interim order against the defendants Vibhor Anand and Sakshi Bhandari, and unknown defendants – which is in the nature of a John Doe / Ashok Kumar order directing the defendants to immediately withdraw/ recall/ take down the defamatory content, including the content described in the suit.
These include posts, messages, tweets, videos, interviews, communications and correspondence, and other defamatory content on social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other mediums that talk about Arbaaz Khan or his family members.
Arbaaz has produced the extremely successful Dabangg and Dabangg 2 under his banner. Arbaaz had also produced the third installment of the popular Dabangg franchise, which saw Salman Khan return as Inspector Chulbul Pandey.
The NCB is probing the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The actor was found dead at his Bandra home on June 14.
So far, the NCB has arrested 18 people in connection with the case including Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik. Rhea was arrested on September 8 for the alleged procurement of drugs. Both Rhea and Showik are in judicial custody presently. A special court in Bombay had extended Rhea and Showik’s judicial custody till October 6.
