Arshdeep Seals India Win vs Sri Lanka

Arshdeep Singh Shines in Super Over as India Edge Sri Lanka in Asia Cup Thriller

Colombo – Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh turned out to be India’s hero, holding his nerve in a tense Super Over to guide his team past Sri Lanka in a nail-biting Asia Cup 2025 clash.

Arshdeep struck immediately in the Super Over, removing Kusal Perera with the very first ball, before dismissing Dasun Shanaka later in the over. He conceded just two runs, setting India a target of three.

India wasted no time in the chase. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav drove Wanindu Hasaranga through extra cover and collected the required runs comfortably, sealing a memorable win for India.

The game had earlier gone down to the last ball of regulation play. With Sri Lanka needing three runs to win, Shanaka’s desperate dive fell short after Harshit Rana’s delivery was hit towards long-on, leaving the scores tied and forcing a Super Over.

Sri Lanka looked in control at the start of the final over, needing 12 runs with Pathum Nissanka on strike. But Nissanka, who had lit up the game with a magnificent 107 off 58 balls, was dismissed first ball, derailing the chase. His innings, studded with six sixes and seven fours, included a 127-run partnership with Kusal Perera (58 off 32).
