Mobile Services May Be Suspended During Ashura in Sindh
The Sindh government has asked for mobile phone and internet services to be turned off in some areas during Ashura (10th Muharram). This is to keep things safe during the mourning processions. The Sindh Home Department has sent this request to the federal government and is waiting for their decision.
Section 144 Imposed in Punjab for Muharram
The Punjab government has put Section 144 in place from June 27 to July 6, 2025 (1st to 10th Muharram). This is to ensure safety during Muharram.
Only religious events (like processions and majalis) that were already approved will be allowed.
No new processions or changes to the approved ones will be allowed without special permission.
People are not allowed to carry weapons or anything that can catch fire.
Slogans, signs, or comments (spoken, written, or online) that can cause religious hate are banned.
Any effort to spread hate between different religious or ethnic groups—through speeches, media, or social media—will be punished under Section 144.
