Reading. Writing. Two key markers of civilization. Yet, we tend to forget all that in the present technological age. In fact, we think we’re better than dusty, old books that need to be placed properly on a bookshelf. But, let’s be real. We’re so not. Why? Because books (I’m talking about novels here) are massive sources of empathy. When we read a book, we can imagine what it’s like to be someone else. It’s like having a dream but you’re still fully aware of your surroundings. Conclusively, reading something that someone else has written is pretty beneficial!
Down below, I’m giving you a short rundown of my favorite authors. They come from different genres so don’t be surprised. To make this short and interesting (because I sincerely hope you guys check these writers out), I’ll mention some of their books that I’ve personally read and ENJOYED. Why? Because just READING is not ENOUGH. So, without further ado, let’s get into it!
1. Colleen Hoover
Since this lady is first, I think you’ll understand why in a few minutes. I’ve read about four of her books. THEY’RE THAT GOOD! The suspense. Trilling details disclosed in the final chapters. All of her books are mesmerizing. In fact, you won’t be forgetting them anytime soon.
I especially loved IT ENDS WITH US. No matter if it’s a random stranger or r close friend, I find myself recommending this book FIRST. It’s just…. AHHHH!! There are no words.
2. Holly Bourne
This author was introduced to me by a good friend of mine. She recommended the book “All the places I’ve cried in public” and after that reading… let’s just say that I’m not the same person. The book explores emotional abuse and other psychological concepts we’ve discussed in the past. Check those out if you’re into it. Other than that, I’ve also read another book by her called “It only happens in the movies”. Yeah… maybe I’m no longer a hopeless romantic. And who knows? Maybe it will change your POV as well.
3. Elle Kennedy
Her books are a little more mature than the other two authors. For that reason, I would recommend that you read the censored versions. But, if you can take the heat, go ahead and get the original. Anyway, her novels are classified as young adult and romantic genres. But, there’s something about her books that make me forget the whole story and just remember that there’s a happy ending ALL THE TIME. If you’re trying to get over your pessimistic moods, why don’t you go ahead and try it. I highly recommend THE RISK and THE CHASE!!
If you’re into wholesome poetry, check this? or maybe this??
Let’s look into gaslighting!!
Currently, I am a student of Fatima Jinnah Women University. With a burning passion for psychology, words, and dreams, I decided to abandon medical studies for humanities. These days, when I’m not listening to ballads, watching movies, or sitting down with a good novel, I am rigorously studying Hangul (Korean language) to satisfy my obsession for BTS and K dramas. I’m a thinking introvert and INFJ personality. Therefore, I like ‘me time’. My articles typically resonate with psychological well-being advice.
