Azadi Train Begins Independence Day Tour in Sindh

Azadi Train Departs on Independence Day Journey Across Sindh

KARACHI — Pakistan Railways has launched a special “Azadi Train” carrying more than 100 passengers to mark the country’s Independence Day celebrations. The train set off on its journey from Karachi and will return on August 14.

The route will take the train through Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Umerkot before reaching its final stop.

A departure ceremony was held, attended by Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon and Minister for Culture and Tourism Zulfiqar Ali Shah. To mark the festive occasion under the theme “Battle for Truth”, a 78-pound cake was cut.

Earlier on August 7, MD Tourism Fayyaz Shah briefed officials on the details of the initiative during a meeting.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zulfiqar Ali Shah said the Azadi Train aims to spread the spirit and joy of Independence Day grandly and memorably. He noted that the event will bring together civil society members, artists, political leaders, and the public to promote national unity and pride.

He expressed hope that the train’s journey would send a strong message of peace and togetherness to the world. Paying tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founders, Shah said the nation continues to honor the struggle for independence while celebrating the unity of the people.
