Flash Floods in Bajaur Claim Nine Lives, Several Injured

BAJAUR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — At least nine people have lost their lives and four others sustained injuries following severe flash floods and landslides in the Jabrrai and Salarzai areas of Bajaur.

Rescue officials said torrential rains triggered the flooding, sending torrents of water rushing through villages and sweeping away homes and residents. A cloudburst in the Salarzai area caused extensive damage, prompting immediate rescue and relief efforts.

Following directives from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Deputy Commissioner Bajaur and district officials are on site, overseeing the operations. Rescue teams are actively working to reach affected communities, while a provincial government helicopter has been deployed to aid in relief activities.

The chief minister has instructed authorities to use all available resources for rescue and relief operations. He has also directed the commissioners of Malakand and Bajaur to personally monitor the situation. Additionally, district administrations in Dir and Swat have been placed on high alert due to the ongoing severe weather conditions.

CM Gandapur emphasized the importance of pre-emptive safety measures to protect lives and property and called for continuous monitoring of rainfall and weather patterns in vulnerable districts.

This disaster comes amid a monsoon season that has wreaked havoc across Pakistan, causing widespread flooding and landslides that have claimed over 300 lives nationwide.
