Gavi Knee Surgery Lopez Out Barca Injury Update

Barca Midfielder Gavi to Undergo Knee Surgery, Lopez Out for Three Weeks

Barcelona midfielder Gavi will undergo knee arthroscopy on Tuesday after being sidelined since late August due to a recurring knee problem. The 21-year-old is dealing with the same knee that previously suffered a torn cruciate ligament and a meniscus injury in 2023.

The club initially tried a conservative treatment approach, followed by “intense sports stress tests” on Sunday, in an effort to manage the issue. In a statement, Barcelona said the procedure is aimed at ensuring “the best possible recovery and return to competitive action.”

Gavi’s last knee surgery in November 2023 had kept him out for an entire year. The club has not specified when he might return to the pitch.

Meanwhile, Fermin Lopez, who featured for 30 minutes in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Getafe, has been sidelined with a hip muscle injury. Barcelona expects him to be out for approximately three weeks.

Gavi and Lopez join a growing list of Barca players on the treatment table, including forward Lamine Yamal, full-back Alejandro Balde, and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
