Britney Spears Opens Up About Short Marriage to Sam Asghari
Grammy-winning pop icon Britney Spears has shared candid reflections on her brief marriage to Sam Asghari, calling it “a distraction” amid some of the toughest moments of her life.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Monday, Spears, mother of Sean, 20, and Jayden, 19, with her second husband Kevin Federline, revealed the pain of being separated from her sons for three years. “We’re just people, so fragile and human. The hardest years of my life were my two sons gone for those three years,” she wrote.
She described the isolation she felt during that period. “I was cut off from calling or texting, and I remember in shock my secret to survival was denial and a lot of tears,” Spears added. Reflecting on her marriage to Asghari, she said, “It’s weird, Sam and I were married, but it almost felt like a fake distraction to help me deal with it.”
Spears later edited her post to remove the comment about her marriage, but Asghari has now responded. “Our marriage was very real to me,” he told a foreign publication. “It may have been short, but we were together for seven years. I was in love with her, will always have love for her, and wish her the best always.”
The couple tied the knot in June 2022 after years of dating, but their marriage ended just over a year later in August 2023.
