Guinness World Records announced on Tuesday, May 25, that BTS’ second English-language track “Butter” has set five new records. According to YouTube, the official music video of “Butter” peaked with 3.9 million concurrent viewers for its premiere on May 21. With this, the track has set the record for the “most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube.” Moreover, BTS also previously held this record with their single “Dynamite” which had 3 million concurrent peak viewers. The global sensation now holds the No. 1 and No. 2 spots for biggest YouTube premieres to date. Furthermore, The almost 4 million peaks concurrent for the “Butter” premiere also broke the record for the “most viewers for the premiere of [any] video on YouTube.”

Additionally, “Butter” has racked up 108.2 million views in the first 24 hours of its release, surpassing BTS’ own 101.1 million view records for “Dynamite.” Through “Butter”; BTS broke the records for “the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group”. Thirdly, “the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours” by any artist. Secondly, “Butter” also set the record for “the most streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours” with its 11,042,335 global streams in just one day. It beats Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber’s 2019 hit “I Don’t Care.” With these latest achievements; BTS now holds a total of 23 Guinness World Records.
