Saudi Arabia has announced plans to build the largest water theme park in the region at Qiddiya City, which is undergoing a transformation to become a world-class tourist destination. The country is accelerating its efforts to meet milestones in line with its ambitious ‘Vision 2023’ plan.
A centerpiece of its Six Flags Qiddiya City endeavor, the water theme park project “Aquarabia” will feature the first double water loop in history as well as the tallest water coaster with the highest jump. With 22 unmatched entertainment venues, family-friendly water experiences, and a few “world-first” attractions, the park hopes to attract visitors from all over the world.
Per the Saudi Press Agency, the project will be built by Saudi Arabia Qiddiya Investment Co. and will have the longest and highest water racing circuit as well as the tallest water slide.
The first underwater adventure trip with diving vehicles and specially designated water sports zones for rafting, kayaking, canoeing, free solo climbing, and cliff leaping for thrill-seekers are also features of the upcoming project.
According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the first surfing pool in the Kingdom will also be unveiled. It will have immersive, narrative-based design features and attractions that are uncommon in water parks, and it will be themed around ancient desert wellsprings and the animals of Qiddiya that are looking for an oasis.
With the previously planned Six Flags Qiddiya City, a thrill park that will push the envelope of what is possible with twenty-eight rides and attractions, Aquarabia will enhance Qiddiya City’s theme park offerings.
The aquatic theme park will have six specially themed zones with five coasters that shatter world records:
Sirocco Tower: the world’s tallest free-standing shot tower ride
Gyropsin: the world’s tallest pendulum ride
Spitfire: the world’s tallest inverted top hat coaster
Iron Rattler: the world’s tallest tilt coaster
Falcons Flight: the world’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster which will run parallel to the F1 track.
Six Flags The first attractions to open for guests in 2025 will be Aquarabia and Qiddiya City, the largest amusement park in Kingdon; the exact opening dates have not yet been announced.
Both parks will maintain the highest standards of sustainable practices, implementing best practices in waste management and water utilization through creative design and cutting-edge technology.
With the use of specialized filters, the water theme park may minimize energy consumption and reduce water waste by up to 90% by using recycled water for cooling and irrigation.
Additionally, according to Khaleej Times, Six Flags Qiddiya City recycles operating waste with the goal of diverting over 80% of it from landfills, assuring a more sustainable and green future for the area.
