Monday’s severe rainstorm and windstorm in Lahore caused a tree to fall, injuring two motorcycle riders and causing power outages that left many areas in the dark.
Details indicate that two motorcycle riders were caught and hurt when a tree fell close to Liberty Roundabout. They were then transported to a hospital for medical attention. According to hospital administration, the conditions of both injured parties are stable.
Rafia Haider, the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, observed the incident and instructed the medical superintendent of the hospital to administer emergency medical care. She also gave the relevant assistant commissioner instructions to get to the scene as soon as possible and start the rescue effort.
The aid worker also advised the public to avoid walking beneath trees and walls and to avoid coming into contact with electrical poles and wires in the event of rain or severe wind.
The storm had a significant effect on Lahore Electric Supply Company’s (LESCO) distribution system, tripping 322 feeders and causing extensive power outages. According to LESCO representatives, the affected feeders were 95 in Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Okara, and Sheikhupura, and 227 in Lahore.
Nonetheless, the rainstorm provided much-needed respite from the heat, resulting in pleasant weather throughout Lahore and other parts of Punjab.
