Anger-filled residents attack the Peshawar grid station as the power outages worsen

Amidst the sweltering heat, disgruntled residents of Peshawar rushed the Hazarkhawani grid station on Saturday in an attempt to restore energy to their homes.

After protests against the city’s ongoing load shedding, locals, including elders and other residents, entered the grid station.

The protests were headed by Fazal Elahi, a politician for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

The lawmaker declared that the elders would restore the grid station’s electricity.

According to Elahi, the demonstrators would travel to each feeder and bring back the power. “Everyone’s electricity will be cut off if ours is cut off.

According to a citizen, Lahoris are also subjected to unannounced load shedding, with certain regions experiencing hourly power outages throughout the day.

Prolonged load-shedding is currently affecting Batapur, Manawan, Shahpur, and Shahdara; unscheduled load-shedding has also affected Kot Lakhpat and Ferozepur Road.

Sources at the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) informed me that the allotment is 4000 MW, but the demand is 4200 MW.

The sources indicated that a fire at the Sabzazar grid station is causing it to trip, which has exacerbated pressure on other systems.

The sources claimed that “load-shedding on feeders in rural areas went on for several hours.”

The heatwave still affecting Punjab and Sindh has made things worse for the people of Lahore because of load shedding. According to the daily weather forecast by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Lahore will have a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius.

In Lahore, the daytime temperature will range from 42°C to 44°C with a 30% humidity level.
