In a recent interview on Hasna Mana Hai, famous actor and producer Hareem Farooq said she had no regrets whatsoever about portraying the mother of an actor her own age in Diyar-e-Dil. At the time, she said that practically everyone she knew told her that the job would be “career suicide.”
The actor, who played the mother of Osman Khalid Bhatt’s character across the years in what turned out to be a breakthrough role for her, remembered, “It was my third drama, and I just followed my heart.” “Everyone warned me that I would never get another lead if I accepted the part. It would be career suicide, they informed me.
She was such a strong character, yet playing that part was challenging for me.
Ignorant to the doubters around her, Farooq proceeded through the easy steps that lead her to agree to a script. The actor said, “Why not? If I like a character, a plot, or even the team I am going to be working with, then why not?” Farooq approaches her work with a philosophical mindset, believing that whatever is meant to happen will happen. She counseled, “Failure is just in our minds.”
Farooq said that her parents are her greatest supporters and that they are the reason behind all of her current achievements.
“They are the reason I have progressed this far,” she said with warmth. Farooq, who is a doctor’s daughter, said that she was always an excellent student in school and that she first intended to major in law before deciding to pursue a degree in journalism and sociology.
She remarked, “My parents had always told me to finish my degree before taking up acting.” “They required me to complete my degree, and that was their condition.”
After earning her degree, Farooq almost went into a play audition and was cast for the role since no one else was available. She hasn’t looked back since, and in addition to pursuing acting and producing roles, she became the first famous woman to host the Pakistan Super League in 2018.
