Shakira says her sons are a "great support" for her musical endeavors

After a contentious breakup with Gerard Piqué in 2022, Shakira opened out about balancing parenthood and her career as she established herself in the US.

The 47-year-old Waka Waka singer spoke out about parenting her two boys, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9, whom she has with her ex-partner Piqué, in an interview with Zane Lowe.

The Columbian singer said, “I’ve been shooting a video, taking pictures, getting ready for another video, getting ready for my album release.” “I’m going to bed at nine or eleven the following morning.”

She described her daily schedule in detail, saying, “I got home at seven a.m. yesterday. I spent breakfast and the evening with my kids, who were already waiting for me. I don’t always go to bed till beyond their bedtime.

Despite acknowledging that she was “running on fumes,” the Grammy-winning singer said she was doing it for her children.

“I choose to do it because I want to be with my children. After I put them to bed, I collapse. It’s been demanding, and I’m managing everything.

Shakira acknowledged that she may have a busy schedule, but it’s important to strike the correct balance.

She said, “It’s the first time I actually have to, you know, deal with so much as a single mother.” Thus, it’s difficult. However, they’re fantastic.

She said that her sons are a “great support” in response to a question about if they knew her routine.
