Starring with Nicholas Galitzine, Anne Hathaway discovered many parallels to her part in the hit film The Idea of You.
The 41-year-old actress says she would “love” to be friends with Soléne, the character she plays, in an interview with V Magazine.
Playing a divorcée, Hathaway falls in love with Hayes, a boy band member who is two decades younger than her, on Galitzine.
The Princess Diaries actress clarified that there are “limited ideas of appropriate ways for women to be happy” as one of the topics that “really resonates” with her.
“When we believe that women have crossed those lines, we respond with harshness and punitivity,” the speaker said. “I decided to make a movie about it because I think it needs to stop.”
Hathaway also stated that in the early stages of her acting career, she was unable to perform the part.
She is at a crossroads in her life when bitterness is almost inevitable. She spoke about having a trust trauma. And it’s difficult to recover from a trust trauma; all that sweetness is starting to go. I couldn’t have taken on that responsibility on my first day of work.
Hathaway gave an explanation of her persona to the source, saying that she can recognize a character who embodies some aspect of her own life.
She remarked, “She’s not this outrageously colorful, gorgeous, attention-grabbing person.” She’s truly attractive, intelligent, and nice, with a surprisingly good sense of humor. I would love to be friends with her. She is comfortable.
