Choosing Khurram's replacement, Saud discusses the Melbourne pitch and batting strategy

Due to an abdominal muscle tear and a stress fracture in his left 10th rib, Khurram Shahzad will not be playing in the Test series against Australia.

While expressing condolences for Shahzad’s untimely demise, batsman Saud Shakeel brought up potential replacements Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali, both of whom are capable of taking significant wickets in the forthcoming Melbourne Test.

“He came here with a big job and bowled pretty well. “I’m truly sorry that he sustained an injury,” Shakeel said to reporters on Thursday.

That’s how the game works. Hasan Ali and Mir Hamza are two more bowlers we have, and they may both take big wickets in this Melbourne Test,” he continued.

After considering the difficult circumstances in the first Test, in which he scored 28 and 24, Shakeel underlined the necessity of adopting a more aggressive batting strategy. He pushed the team to play attacking shots to build up runs and put pressure on the opposition.

“We just need to be more positive with our batting approach and just play some attacking shots to get runs and put them under pressure,” Shakeel stated.
Shakeel was upbeat when he analyzed the Melbourne pitch’s features and remarked that, in contrast to Perth’s springy surface, the Melbourne pitch should be better for batting.

Perth Pitch

“The Perth pitch has the highest bounce possible. This pitch, I believe, will work for us. It’s not (as) difficult to bat on in the matches I’ve seen in Melbourne,” he remarked.

Shakeel emphasized the significance of the team coming together as a unit to take on the task and score runs, acknowledging the potent Australian bowling attack and the psychological difficulties that come with playing at home.

“They have good attack and fantastic experience when you come to Australia. Playing in their native environment presents more of a mental than a physical challenge. We have to go out there and score runs as a team,” he said in closing.
