COAS Visits Flood-Hit Kasur, Multan, Reviews Relief Efforts
Kasur/Multan – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited flood-affected areas in Kasur and Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, on Saturday to assess the situation and oversee ongoing relief operations.
According to the military’s media wing, the Army Chief was briefed on rescue and relief measures being carried out jointly by the Pakistan Army and civil administration. Punjab Chief Secretary and senior government officials were also present during the visit.
Interacting with civil administration representatives, Gen Munir highlighted the importance of good governance and people-focused development. He stressed that Pakistan could not afford recurring losses of lives and property due to floods, urging swift infrastructure development to protect vulnerable communities.
The Army Chief reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to stand by the people in times of crisis and underlined the need for strong civil-military coordination to tackle challenges faced by flood-hit families.
During his interaction with displaced residents, he assured them of continued support for their resettlement and rehabilitation. Affected families expressed gratitude to the Army for its timely assistance during the disaster.
Gen Munir also met with troops, Rescue 1122 staff, and police officials engaged in relief efforts, praising their morale, dedication, and around-the-clock services under challenging conditions. He commended their teamwork with civil authorities in delivering timely aid.
The COAS later conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas along the Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala axes to personally assess the damage and relief progress. He was received in the field by Corps Commanders of Lahore and Multan.
