Controversy surrounds Anju most recent disclosure on her husband

Anju, a woman whose transnational romance made headlines in Pakistan and India, reversed her earlier claims regarding her five-month stay in Pakistan and her final return to her native country.

After becoming friends with Nasrullah online, she crossed the border into Pakistan in July 2023 to start her voyage. A 15-day tour was originally scheduled, but things turned out differently than predicted.

She stated, “I didn’t plan to stay in Pakistan and marry Nasrullah,” but the situation changed dramatically as a result of rumors and commentary from both sides of the border. Overwhelmed, she decided to stay for a few days without planning, which finally resulted in her marriage to Nasrullah.

Anju admitted in an interview, “Maybe I wouldn’t have married Nasrullah if it hadn’t been so heavily publicized.” “The negativity from my own family and the comparisons drawn between me and Seema Haider (another woman in a similar situation) created a lot of pressure.”

Anju maintains that her time with Nasrullah’s family was enjoyable in spite of the difficulties. “There were no limitations or attire requirements. She says, “I never donned a burqa. She managed to fit in with his family and gained respect while also finding her independence.

She affirmed that she was free to dress however she pleased, choosing to wear suits instead of a burqa, even if she had to be aware of the customs of the area. Anju’s journey sheds insight on the complex interplay between media influence, cultural expectations, and individual decisions in the setting of international partnerships.

In the end, Anju returned to India in November because she was desperate for her life to return to normal. She sought comfort in familiar surroundings after navigating the emotional terrain of a whirlwind courtship, media frenzy, and cultural adaptations.
