Francis Ford Coppola Hospitalised in Rome, Says He Is “Doing Fine”

Famous filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola was recently taken to a hospital in Rome, Italy, after feeling an irregular heartbeat, according to foreign media reports.

The 86-year-old, who has won five Oscars, had gone to the hospital for a planned heart procedure. But when he arrived, doctors found he had a mild heart rhythm problem and kept him under observation.

A source close to Coppola said, “Mr. Coppola went in for a scheduled update procedure with Dr. Andrea Natale, his doctor for over 30 years. He is now resting and doing well. He thanks everyone for their concern.”

Later, Coppola posted a message on his Instagram to let fans know that he is okay.

“Da Dada (what my kids call me) is fine,” he wrote. Coppola said he used the chance while in Rome to update his old atrial fibrillation (AFib) treatment. He praised Dr. Natale, calling him the inventor of the procedure.

“I am well,” the ‘Godfather’ director confirmed.
