Shubman Gill has moved nearer to Babar Azam, the current number one ranked ODI batsman, as the Indian opener sustained his impressive batting performance in the ongoing ODI series against Australia.

In the first ODI against Australia on Friday, Gill amassed a commanding 74 runs from 63 deliveries, followed by a magnificent innings of 104 runs from 97 balls in the second ODI on Sunday.

After the latest update of the ICC rankings, Gill now holds the second position with 847 points, while Babar Azam remains at the top with 857 points.

Furthermore, the Indian opener showcased his exceptional batting skills during the 2023 Asia Cup, where he emerged as the leading run-scorer of the tournament. He amassed an impressive total of 302 runs in six innings, achieving an outstanding average of 75.50.

In contrast, the captain of Pakistan has accumulated 745 runs in 15 innings during the same period.
