A gang of transgender people attacked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central spokesperson Raoof Hasan in Islamabad on Tuesday.
According to sources, Hasan was leaving the location after wrapping off a program for a pay TV network when the incident happened. They stated that the attack was started by four transgender people.
The PTI leader was harmed on his face by the attackers who used a knife on him. The attackers made a clean getaway from the site after the attack.
PTI organized a Senate walkout in response to Hasan’s attack, denouncing the attack and calling for prompt action from the government.
Hasan is now receiving medical attention at a hospital.
PTI Senator Shibli Faraz brought up the issue in the Senate during a session, informing the upper house that it was “unacceptable.”
“There has been an attack on the spokesman for Pakistan’s biggest party. This is deplorable and disgraceful,” he continued.
Attaullah Tarar, the federal minister of information, retorted, saying, “The head of the opposition has just disclosed this subject. Who assaulted and where the attack happened will be investigated in accordance with the law. Raoof Hasan ought to submit a report, and legal action will be done.”
Additionally, he promised to notify the home following receipt of a report from the Inspector General of Islamabad or other pertinent authorities.
A spokesman for the Islamabad Police claimed that Hasan was stabbed outside a private television station. “Transgender people reportedly slashed Raoof Hasan in the face with a knife, according to witnesses,” he continued.
According to him, police officers were on the site gathering evidence. He went on, “Tough measures will be taken against the transgender people who carried out this attack.”
