Dairy traders demand area to promote business

The dairy traders of Islamabad have urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA). So to allocate an area for developing a cluster of the fresh milk business.

A delegation of Islamabad Fresh Milk Vendors Association (IFMA) led by its President Muzaffar Ahmed Hashmi. He visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry; where he discussed the key issues of their business with ICCI President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan.

ICCI Senior Vice President Fatma Azim and Vice President Abdul Rehman Khan were present. Along with IFMA Secretary General Shahid Imran Gondal and other office-bearers of the association.

Hashmi and Gondal said that a Gawala Colony or milkmen colony badly needed in Islamabad. To promote the fresh milk business. He urged that CDA should allocate space for it at a proper location.

They said that the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) has yet to revise the rate list of fresh milk after a passage of two years since the last review.

They said that multinational companies selling packed milk were using unethical and exploitative marketing campaigns against fresh milk suppliers, which was affecting their business.

Addressing the delegation, ICCI President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan shared many innovative ideas with the delegation of IFMA to boost the fresh milk business.

HFinally he said that IFMA should mobilize its members to properly organize. He further said corporatize their business with central collection and central distribution mechanism. He said that there was no alternative to fresh milk for good health. IFMA should develop new business models. Like model shops and model outlets with certification from Food Authority to compete effectively with MNCs selling packed milk.
