Gervonta “Tank” Davis to Face Jake Paul in November Exhibition
MIAMI – WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis is set to step into the ring with YouTube-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a highly anticipated exhibition match. Davis, who fights at 135 pounds, will face Paul, whose last bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June saw him competing just under 200 pounds.
“The fighters have agreed, and the commission has approved a maximum weight of 195 pounds for this exhibition,” Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, told the media.
The fight is scheduled for November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, and will be streamed live on Netflix. The bout will be contested over 10 three-minute rounds, with both fighters wearing 12-ounce gloves.
Paul’s coach, J’Leon Love, offered insight on the challenge ahead: “Ooh, man, at his walk-around weight, I’m not sure what that is—maybe around 160,” he told DAZN News.
Davis, known for his devastating knockout power, boasts 28 KOs in 30 wins, giving him a knockout ratio of 93 percent. Love added, “Sure, if it’s done right, his power should grow. But pure talent out of Gervonta—I don’t think anything will slow him down. He’s got natural ability. Overall, Jake will be the one who has to adjust to his speed, size, and reach.”
Both fighters are scheduled for another press conference on Tuesday evening in Miami as the countdown to the November showdown continues.
