Two days after a horrific stabbing in a crowded shopping mall that left many terrified, a number of people were attacked outside a church in Sydney, Australia’s bustling metropolis.
Six individuals were fatally stabbed on Saturday in Sydney’s Westfield Bondi Junction shopping center; authorities have ruled out terrorism as the cause of the incident. The victims were five women and one guy.
The media claims that there is currently no connection between the two incidents.
According to local sources, at least three people were hurt at the church in Sydney’s west, and a religious leader was stabbed.
According to reports, the assailant decided to target Christ The Good Shepherd Church during a service that was being broadcast live online for the bishop.
Just after 7 o’clock at night, Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was among those stabbed while celebrating mass at Assyrian Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley.
The man approached the altar and repeatedly attacked Bishop’s head with his knife.
The four wounded males are said to be in their 20s to 60s years old, with their injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
According to the local police, they detained a suspect after responding to allegations of stabbings.
A statement read, “Officers arrested a male and he is assisting police with inquiries.”
Paramedics from NSW Ambulance are tending to the non-life-threatening injuries of the wounded individuals.
