Construction on Pakistan's First Double-Story Underpass Begins in Lahore

The building of Pakistan’s first two-story underpass has officially begun, with the Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, directing the project. It is located in Garden Town, next to Barkat Market.

The national hero and world wrestling champion Gamma Pehlawan is honored in this ground-breaking project, appropriately named “Rustam e Zaman The Great Gamma Crossing.” With two levels, the 700-meter underpass is quite remarkable and covers 1.4 kilometers in total. This innovative infrastructure project’s main goal is to reduce the area’s traffic congestion.

Conducted by the Punjab CBD team, the concurrent building of these underpasses is expected to create vital links, connecting Barkat Market to Canal Road and Jinnah Hospital. It is expected that this connectivity will offer those traveling to Iqbal Town a complete answer to the current traffic problems.

Nespak has designed the project with great care, and it should be finished in a short six months. After construction is completed, the two-story underpass will greatly improve Barkat Market area traffic flow and accessibility, providing Garden Town inhabitants with a more effective and convenient commute.
