Diljit Dosanjh Nominated for International Emmy for ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’

In a proud moment for Indian cinema, Diljit Dosanjh has earned a nomination for Best Actor at the 2025 International Emmy Awards. The nominations were announced on the official Emmy website on Thursday, September 25. Dosanjh has been recognized for his role in the musical biopic Amar Singh Chamkila, which has also secured a nomination in the TV Movie/Mini-series category.

Reacting to the news, the Sardaar Ji 3 star credited filmmaker Imtiaz Ali for shaping his award-worthy performance.

Dosanjh faces stiff competition in the Best Actor category, going up against David Mitchell for Ludwig, Oriol Pla for Yo, Adicto, and Diego Vasquez for One Hundred Years of Solitude.

The film, a biopic of the controversial Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, was co-written, directed, and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. Dosanjh stars in the titular role, with Parineeti Chopra portraying Amarjot, Chamkila’s second wife. Released in theaters last April, the film moved to Netflix just five days later.

Chamkila has won widespread critical acclaim, particularly for Ali’s direction, Dosanjh’s compelling performance, and its music, composed by legendary musician A.R. Rahman.
