Donnarumma Nears Man City Move After PSG Farewell

Donnarumma Bids Emotional Farewell to PSG Fans as Man City Move Nears

PARIS – Paris Saint-Germain began their Ligue 1 title defence with a narrow 1-0 win over Angers, but it was Gianluigi Donnarumma who stole the spotlight after the final whistle.

The Italian goalkeeper, who was not in the match-day squad, walked onto the Parc des Princes pitch in casual attire to wave goodbye to the fans. The 26-year-old, once tipped to join Manchester United, is now expected to sign with Manchester City in the final days of the transfer window.

In a poignant moment, Donnarumma’s teammates Achraf Hakimi and Fabian Ruiz nudged him towards the penalty area in front of PSG’s ultras, where he received a heartfelt ovation. For over 30 seconds, he stood alone, clapping and waving as fans chanted his name before being embraced again by his teammates.

The farewell comes as negotiations intensify between PSG and City. Pep Guardiola admitted earlier on Friday that his goalkeeping situation remains unsettled, with Ederson’s future in doubt amid interest from Galatasaray.

“Tomorrow we’ll see who trains well,” Guardiola told reporters. “New players always bring energy.”

Donnarumma, a European Championship and Champions League winner, was informed this month that he no longer features in PSG’s long-term plans following the signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille.

With Ederson potentially on his way out, Donnarumma has emerged as a leading candidate to take over at the Etihad.
