According to a press release, Karachi’s much awaited and beloved culinary and music event, the Eat Festival, is scheduled to return for its 11th year from January 12–14. For the city’s foodies and music fans, the three-day festival promises to be an amazing event. The Festival promises to be filled with a vast array of sweet and savory food vendors, just like it does every year, along with an amazing schedule of musical acts for the evening.
One of the first initiatives to enable small companies and home cooks to set up shop for a wider audience was Karachi Eat. Home-based caterers have progressively expanded in number over the past 11 years, accounting for 75% of stalls this year as opposed to businesses.
Every year, these fascinating discoveries—which offer a broad variety of traditional and international foods—become the most sought-after attractions. A unique blend of established players, up-and-coming eateries, and cuisine entrepreneurs can be anticipated by visitors. Of the 120 restaurants vying for a seat during the three-day event, De Calzone, 75 degree hot, Yak Grill, Dear Croissant, Jani Biryani, E Street, Sweetistry, and Sombrero are among them.
The most recent iteration will mark the launch of the B.E.A.T. Festival (Bringing Emerging Artists Together), a musical occasion designed to provide a stage for Pakistan’s up-and-coming and undiscovered artists. The grand finale, which will take place on Karachi Eat’s main stage, is expected to feature a wide range of musical abilities.
Similar to how Karachi Eat serves as a springboard for ambitious chefs looking to break into the city’s culinary industry, the festival’s B.E.A.T section hopes to do the same for up-and-coming artists who are only waiting for the right moment to show off their skills. Omer Omari, CEO of Eat Festival, stated, “We think Pakistan’s music scene has enormous potential that needs to be fully realized.”
“It’s been very rewarding to help so many home chefs over the years just by giving them the right platform,” Omari continued, expressing his gratitude for the fest’s increasing number of home cooks. It’s our way of returning the favor to the city that helped to establish the Eat Festival.”
Furthermore, Eat Food Pakistan has introduced EATSAPP, a food discovery app that will be useful all year long as it lets users rate, review, and find new restaurants in their area. With an official test launch scheduled for the festival, the app’s tagline, “We know what you want to eat before you do,” is somewhat ambitious.
Menu item recommendations for app users are based on their overall level of interaction. Food entrepreneurs have complete control over their own brands and can increase sales by using EATSAPP to promote their brands and submit their menus in real-time.
In addition, the event honors the triumph of the second season of “Beginnings With Us,” in which amateur cooks vie for a position at Karachi Eat. The winner, Ayesha Mughal, stunned everyone in attendance by winning for the second year in a row with her brand, Aysh De Cuisine. Her creative take on gol gappay with flavors of pizza, chicken, and rabri will be sold at stand number 76.
The Eat Festival Karachi 2024 is expected to bring the city together with its unique blend of culinary treats and captivating musical acts, allowing attendees to witness the ingenuity and skill of the participating restaurants and foodies. Taking place at the traditional Beach Park, Clifton, the three-day event promises to showcase the best of Karachi’s culinary and musical sectors.
