Unexpectedly, prominent Pakistani poet, filmmaker, and screenwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar has alluded to Mahira Khan being the next Mirza Jatt. Many people were taken aback by this announcement, considering the tense past the two celebrities had and Qamar’s repeated declarations that he would never wish to collaborate with her.
It seems that both have decided to move on from their previous disagreements. In a recent interview, Qamar revealed that Mahira and Humayun Saeed will co-star in Mirza Jatt. In reference to their previous argument, Qamar said, “Yes, there were differences, but now we just have to work. “That was my stance,” Qamar said in response to a question concerning whether he had forgiven Mahira after pledging never to do so. I’ll adhere to it.”
Online comments on the news have been conflicting. Some fans are overjoyed to see Mahira and Humayun on film together again, but others are dubious about their possible partnership. Qamar’s claims to be working with Mahira have not yet been verified by Mahira.
A social media spat broke out in 2020 when an actress from The Legend of Maula Jatt criticized Qamar for his comments against social activist Marvi Sirmad. He has publicly ridiculed the actor ever since for sticking up for what was right. Well-known for his candid opinions, Qamar voiced his displeasure with Mahira’s behavior last year on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, saying that although he didn’t hate her, he detested her actions—a feeling he thought to be enduring.
Qamar’s offensive remarks about women on national television sparked Mahira and Qamar’s enmity. Mahira was incensed by his position and criticized him on Twitter, asking how the business could remain silent and not object to such offensive comments. She also expressed her dismay at Qamar’s behavior and how he could still land deals, saying, “I am stunned at what I have just heard and seen! deeply ill. For what reason is this man who assaulted a woman on television well-regarded and awarded numerous projects? We bear equal responsibility, if not greater, for continuing this mindset.”
Because the slur was made public, Qamar stated on the same Butt-hosted podcast that he might only consider calling it quits with Mahira if she issues a public apology. Qamar seemed unwavering in his position, unable to let the past go past and clinging tightly to his grudge.
