Unsettling surveillance footage that was made public on Friday seems to show Sean “Diddy” Combs violently abusing his ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura, supporting claims that she made in a case that was eventually settled late last year.
Federal officials raided Combs’ properties this year, and he is the subject of multiple civil lawsuits portraying him as a violent sexual predator who used narcotics and alcohol to pacify his victims.
The 2016 video, which CNN got and released, features the hip-hop mogul striking, dragging, and kicking the singer Cassie. Cassie claimed in a recent lawsuit that Combs had subjected her to narcotics and physical abuse for more than ten years, in addition to a 2018 rape.
In the footage, Combs—who looks to be wearing nothing but a towel—chases Ventura out of the hotel room, throws her to the ground, and then attacks her. “The horrifying footage has only served to reinforce Mr. Combs’ unsettling and predatory actions. In a statement, her attorney Douglas Wigdor said, “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
Ventura filed a shocking lawsuit against Combs in federal court last autumn. The case was resolved out of court, but it was followed by several more outrageous allegations of sexual assault against the hip-hop artist. When Ventura first saw Combs, she was 19 and he was 37. He then signed her to his label and they started dating.
Combs has fiercely refuted every allegation made against him. When AFP asked for a statement, his attorney did not get back to them right once. In a widely reported bicoastal operation in March, armed agents barged into Combs’ opulent estates in Los Angeles and Miami, raising suspicions that the rapper was the subject of an ongoing investigation.
