When an Indian influencer speaks out against body shaming, Hania supports her

While pictures of the actor Hania Aamir’s effortless dimpled smile are widely shared on social media, she has also shamelessly exploited her position to advocate for mental health. Hania was therefore obligated to repost Dolly Singh’s post on fat shaming on her own Instagram story when the actor and influencer from India made a post on the subject.

Dolly wrote a touching essay about her issues with weight gain after years of receiving derogatory remarks about her body type. She concluded with a meaningful statement about how she has overcome uninvited criticism.

“My weight fluctuates too, like most people,” Dolly started. “Being on the naturally thin side of things, I lose weight easily and find it difficult to gain it back.”

Dolly continued by saying she was no longer concerned about what people would think of her weight. “I adore my body in all its forms because it keeps me going. I’ve hated every part of my body since I was a child, so this is growth.

Dolly put up boundaries for her own mental health even though she had come to grips with her physique because she noticed that not everyone was as understanding. She wrote, “I was going to see someone the other day, but I decided against it because I realized they’re not my safe space.”

Dolly beseeched her admirers and followers to be the change that others need to see, explaining that she had cut herself off from the people and places that didn’t make her feel loved and welcomed. She advised in her message, “Try to be someone’s safe space if you could do something today.” “And recognize the blessings in your life—people who aren’t concerned with your weight fluctuations, but rather with the smiles on your face.”

“It takes tremendous courage to fight your fears and insecurities and then turn every mean comment into your armor and try to give your community something positive out of the negativity you have received,” Hania wrote, moved by Dolly’s moving words. You truly are a queen! I appreciate your strong message.

Broadly disseminating positive messages that challenge body shaming and candidly disclose personal problems could lead to a gradual diffusion of these themes throughout society.
