Fakhar Zaman Controversial Out Asia Cup 2025 Debate Ignites

Fakhar Zaman’s Controversial Dismissal Sparks Debate in Asia Cup 2025

KARACHI – Pakistan’s T20I captain, Salman Ali Agha, has expressed concerns over the controversial dismissal of Fakhar Zaman during Pakistan’s Asia Cup clash against India. He submitted a negative report questioning the TV umpire’s decision and suggested that the ball may have bounced before being collected.

“The way Fakhar was batting, if he had continued through the power play, we could probably have scored around 190,” Salman said in a media briefing.

Fakhar Zaman, who had started well with 15 runs off just nine balls, including three boundaries, was dismissed caught behind off Hardik Pandya’s slower delivery. The ball appeared to take an edge before being collected by Indian wicket-keeper Sanju Samson.

The incident occurred in the third over of the innings, leaving Fakhar visibly shocked as he walked off the pitch. The third umpire conducted a lengthy review to check whether the ball had touched the ground before being caught, ultimately ruling Fakhar out.

The decision has drawn criticism from former cricketers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, as well as fans and analysts on social media, questioning the legitimacy of the catch.

Indian journalist Rahul Rawat commented on X, saying, “It seems the ball touched the ground before reaching the Indian wicket-keeper’s gloves.”

The dismissal has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning whether Fakhar Zaman was wrongly given out in this high-stakes Asia Cup encounter.
