Farhan Ghani, Brother of Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani, Granted Police Remand in Assault Case
Karachi – Farhan Ghani, brother of Sindh’s Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, along with other accused, appeared before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday in connection with an alleged assault on a government employee overseeing fibre optic network work on Shara-e-Faisal.
Police requested an extension of the accused’s physical remand, which the court granted until August 30. The judge directed the investigation team to submit a detailed progress report in the next hearing, stressing the importance of prompt action.
During proceedings, the court questioned the investigation officer (IO) about the status of the case and the number of statements recorded under Section 161. Expressing frustration over the lack of progress, the judge said, “What will you do in three days when nothing has been done till now?”
The court also criticized the investigation team, questioning, “Where is the CIA, SIU, or all of them? You people do nothing except torment the common man. Will you become a DSP after this case?”
The IO informed the court that the complainant had not produced any witnesses. The judge sharply rebuked the officer, asking, “Are you his servant if he is not producing witnesses?”
Waqar Abbasi, appearing as the advocate for the accused, submitted his authorization papers to represent them in court.
The FIR was filed by Hafiz Sohail at the Ferozabad police station late Saturday night, alleging that Farhan Ghani and others assaulted him while he was supervising the fibre optic network laying work.
