MQM-P Leader Farooq Sattar Raises Concerns Over Karachi Projects

KARACHI – Veteran MQM-Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar expressed frustration over what he called a lack of engagement from key provincial leaders regarding Karachi’s ongoing issues. Speaking on Bakhabar Sawera, Sattar said neither PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto nor Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had given him time to discuss solutions for the city’s challenges.

Sattar questioned why the NOC for the K-IV water project remains pending despite 75 percent of the work being completed, and why the Green Line BRT project is yet to be finalized. He claimed, “It is the credit of MQM that these projects have progressed, yet the People’s Party refuses to acknowledge it.”

The MQM leader also emphasized the party’s willingness to cooperate with the government for the benefit of Karachi residents.

Green Line Extension Halted

Meanwhile, the Karachi municipal leadership has insisted that all urban development projects within the city should remain under municipal oversight. Last week, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab halted construction of the Green Line extension project, which runs from Numaish intersection to Municipal Park near Jama Cloth Market, citing procedural violations.

Officials from the Karachi Municipal Corporation clarified that the NOC for the project had expired and that the PIDCL would need to obtain fresh approval to continue work on the BRT extension.
