FBR Surpasses July Tax Target with Rs755 Billion Collection

FBR Collects Rs. 755 Billion in July, Beats Monthly Target

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has collected Rs. 755 billion in July 2025, going beyond its target of Rs. 748 billion, according to sources. This shows the government is focusing more on collecting taxes and increasing revenue.

July Tax Breakdown:
Income Tax: Rs. 324 billion

Sales Tax: Rs. 353 billion

Federal Excise Duty: Rs. 46 billion

Customs Duty: Rs. 113 billion

This strong start supports Pakistan’s plan to meet its yearly tax target of Rs. 14,131 billion. Meeting these monthly goals is also important because it’s one of the main conditions from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under their financial program.

Big Growth in 2024-25:
A report by the FBR mentioned that the total tax collection for the fiscal year 2024-25 reached Rs. 1,017.8 billion. The Ministry of Finance shared this data in the Senate.

Income Tax (FY 2024-25): Rs. 628.3 billion

Sales Tax (FY 2024-25): Rs. 389.5 billion

Highest Monthly Income Tax (June 2025): Rs. 125.9 billion

The FBR also expanded its tax network by bringing 280,197 new filers into the system. The number of people filing returns rose to 1,034,143, compared to 841,071 last year.

Refund Payments and Targets:
Set Targets:

Income Tax: Rs. 480 billion

Sales Tax: Rs. 400 billion

Achieved: Both targets were successfully met.

Refunds Paid in FY 2024-25: Rs. 363.7 billion

Refunds over Last 5 Years: Rs. 1,472.1 billion

This performance is seen as a positive sign for Pakistan’s economy as it aims to stabilize and meet its commitments to global lenders.
