Boey’s Clash Leaves Augsburg’s Fellhauer Injured in Dramatic Finish
A tense Bundesliga clash between Bayern Munich and Augsburg took a worrying turn late on Sunday when Augsburg midfielder Fellhauer was left motionless on the pitch following a collision with Bayern’s Boey. The incident occurred as Augsburg pushed for a stoppage-time equaliser, contesting a high ball in the dying moments of the match.
Fellhauer fell hard and had to be carried off, while Boey was shown a yellow card for the challenge. Augsburg coach Sandro Wagner stormed onto the field to confront officials and Bayern players in protest.
In a statement released after the game, Augsburg confirmed that the 27-year-old suffered a “severe concussion and minor facial fractures” but would not require surgery. The club did not specify how long he would be sidelined.
Speaking after the match, Wagner criticised Boey for failing to apologise immediately following what he described as a “brutal foul.” Meanwhile, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany clarified that Boey did apologise to Fellhauer after being prompted by teammate Joshua Kimmich.
Despite the incident, Bayern held on to secure a 3-2 victory, having once held a commanding 3-0 lead.
