FIA Launches Advanced Second-Line Immigration Office at Sialkot Airport
Sialkot – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has unveiled a fully equipped Second-Line Immigration Control Office at Sialkot Airport, aiming to strengthen border security and curb illegal activities.
An FIA spokesperson said the new facility was established with support from the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the Embassy of Denmark. The office features advanced forensic and IT tools to thoroughly examine forged passports, visas, and suspicious documents.
Officials highlighted that the upgraded technology will play a key role in preventing human smuggling and illegal immigration. The document screening process has also been enhanced to meet international standards.
This move comes as part of a broader initiative, with similar Second-Line Immigration Control Offices already operating at airports in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, and Peshawar.
The spokesperson added that the new facility in Sialkot underscores the growing cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union in strengthening border management and security.
