Five men arrested for harassing a woman at Murree Expressway

Five men were taken into custody by the police for allegedly harassing a woman at Murree Expressway on Saturday night.

Motorway police arrived at the scene soon after the victim’s telephone call.

As per details, a woman who was traveling in a vehicle at Murree Expressway was allegedly followed and harassed by five young men also traveling in a car. The victim immediately called the motorway police helpline. Soon after the call, the police arrived at the spot and arrested the suspects and registered a case against them.

Earlier this week, Goodwill Ambassador for World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and an adventure athlete Samar Khan had claimed that she had been harassed on an Islamabad road by a motorcyclist.

The athlete took to Twitter to share the entire harassment episode.

Detailing the incident, she had said that she was cycling in the middle of the capital of the country, Islamabad when an office going person on a motorcycle harassed her.

“He was carrying an office bag and slowed down his vehicle near my cycle,” she had said, adding that the man then groped her and patted her back multiple times.

The country is already in a state of shock after two incidents of rape were reported from Karachi and Lahore within a span of over a week.

A five-year-old girl was raped and then burned to death in a Karachi neighborhood while a woman was sexually assaulted by two men as she was forced to stop by at Lahore motorway in front of her children. The woman had yet to call the helpline when the armed men reached there. They also took away cash, jewelry, and other valuables from her.

The woman is said to be a resident of the Defence Housing Authority and her husband worked abroad, the police officer said, adding a case had been registered against the two unidentified robbers on the complaint of her relative. Now the robbers are identified, but they have evaded arrest.
