Floods Hit 130 Health Centers in Pakistan

Floods Continue to Ravage Healthcare System Across Pakistan

Pakistan’s healthcare system is reeling under the impact of ongoing floods, with the government recently receiving a fresh report detailing widespread damage to health facilities nationwide.

According to sources, ten more health centers have been affected, bringing the total number of flood-hit facilities to 130. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remains the hardest-hit province, with 60 centers damaged. Punjab has seen 38 facilities affected after ten more were reported damaged, while Sindh accounts for 25, and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) reports seven damaged centers.

Of the total, seven health centers have been destroyed, leaving them non-functional, while 123 have suffered partial damage. KP lost three centers entirely, Sindh two, and GB two.

Flooding has also cut off access to eight health facilities in Punjab, further straining the system. The human impact is significant: in KP, 68 Lady Health Workers (LHWs) have lost their homes—28 completely destroyed and 40 partially damaged. In GB, two health centers were fully destroyed and five were partially damaged, rendering the destroyed facilities out of service.

The ongoing floods continue to challenge relief efforts as the country grapples with widespread infrastructure damage.
