For the "Animal" premiere, Anil Kapoor opted to wear Pakistani brand "Rastah"

Animal, the newest release from Bollywood, is expected to become a blockbuster, and fans are enamored with the glitz and glamour of the movie’s premiere. Fashion enthusiasts recently noticed renowned actor Anil Kapoor wearing a jacket from Pakistani streetwear brand Rastah during the special screening in Mumbai.

The “Hand-woven Dot Jacket” was worn by Anil, who portrays Ranbir Kapoor’s father in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s criminal thriller. It was taken from an old Rastafarian collection. The jacket, which was entirely woven by hand by Pakistani artist-tailor Master Ijaz, represents the “concepts of surveillance and personal autonomy in the digital age,” according to the fashion brand’s website. At present, the jacket is available for purchase for Rs. 123,200.

Anil is not the first person to wear the Pakistani brand. Co-founder of the clothing firm Zain Ahmad revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that the Bollywood icon donned a second Rastah jacket in his 2022 release JuggJugg Jeeyo, describing it as a “surprise”. “I was pleasantly surprised to see Anil Kapoor in Rastah for his new film JuggJugg Jeeyo when I woke up today,” Zain said on her Instagram. The Mr. India star verified that he was really wearing a blue Rastah upper on one of his shared movie posters.

On Rastah’s Instagram page in 2022, Zain also posted a photo from a joint shoot with actor and producer Harshvardhan Kapoor, Anil’s son. In the post, Anil was seen standing behind Harshvardhan, who was wearing an orange button-down shirt with white slacks and an inner made by Rastah and dyed denim yarn.

Rastah is a Pakistani streetwear brand that was founded in 2018 by cousins Zain, Ismail, and Adnan Ahmad. The label’s goal is to combine the rich Eastern cultural and artistic traditions with Western design inspirations. Several celebrities have been spotted wearing rastah, including rapper French Montana, Oscar-winning actor Riz Ahmed, Canadian musician Justin Beiber, and Bollywood director Karan Johar
