The most recent Billboard successes of Ariana Grande are not exclusive to her.
Grandmother of the pop phenomenon, Marjorie “Nonna” Grande, 98, also created history when she made an appearance on Grande’s song “Ordinary Things,” which is taken from Ariana’s most recent album, “Eternal Sunshine.”
Nonna became the oldest individual to be listed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart when the song peaked at No. 55.
Nonna is featured in the spoken outro of the song, where she offers her granddaughter some important relationship advice, “Never go to bed without kissin’ goodnight. Never, ever do that—it’s the worst thing you can do. And if you can’t, and if you don’t feel comfortable doing it, you’re in the wrong place, go out.”
Billboard honored Granny Grande with a trophy for her accomplishment, acknowledging her contribution to the song. Ariana Grande showed her respect for her grandma by sharing the occasion on social media with pride.
Grande posted on her Instagram account, “Celebrating the one and only, most beautiful Nonna who has now made history for being the senior most person to ever appear on the @billboard Hot100.”
In “Eternal Sunshine,” which shot to the top of the Spotify and YouTube charts upon its release, Grande, who has had her fair share of highs and lows in the love department, looks back on her personal journey.
The “yes, and?” singer announced her intention to divorce Dalton Gomez in 2023.
