International artist Zayn Malik collaborated with Pakistani group AUR on an engrossing rendition of their 2023 chart-topping hit song, Tu Hai Kahan. The re-released version, which debuted on Friday, January 12, and has extra vocals by Malik, gave the captivating ballad a new lease on life.
Zayn revealed his joy for the partnership and humility in a statement to Billboard. “When AUR contacted me to work with them on their song Tu Hai Kahan, I was deeply humbled. I adore the song and have included a little bit of me in it. I hope what we’ve done is well received,” he said. Previously, the song had racked up hundreds of millions of plays and held the top spot in Pakistan, India, and the Global Viral rankings on Spotify.
A new music video that offers an insight into the creative process has been released to coincide with the release. The images combine footage of AUR in the studio with Zayn recording his vocals alone in a booth, resulting in a smooth fusion of cross-border artistic collaboration.
Ahad, Usama, and Raffey, the members of AUR, expressed their excitement for the cross-cultural cooperation and emphasized how music is a universal language. “We are super excited for this collaboration as it shows that music has no boundaries,” they said. We hold Tu Hai Kahan in such high regard, and words cannot express how thrilled we were to hear ZAYN’s voice on the song for the first time. We’re introducing Pakistani music to a global audience, and we can’t wait for it to catch on.”
With the release of this collaborative project from US independent D36 and Sony Music Entertainment, Middle East, Zayn makes his comeback to the music industry following the release of his one-off single, Love Like This, last summer. Nobody Is Listening, Zayn’s most recent album, was released in 2021.
This partnership is evidence of the ability of music to create a connection that is felt all across the world, even when it comes to distance. When Zayn and AUR combine their skills, Tu Hai Kahan becomes a representation of intercultural harmony and the boundless possibilities of global musical collaborations.
