Model-Turned-Actor Humaira Asghar Found Dead in Karachi Apartment; Mysterious Substance Recovered
Humaira Asghar, a well-known model, actor, and artist, was found dead in her apartment in Karachi’s Ittehad Commercial Area, police confirmed Tuesday. Gizri Police discovered her body during an eviction operation ordered by the court after her landlord filed a case over unpaid rent since April 2024.
According to officials, the flat on the fourth floor was forcibly opened in the presence of a bailiff, revealing the severely decomposed body. Neighbors had complained of a foul smell, but due to an adjacent apartment remaining unoccupied until early 2025, the odor went unnoticed for weeks. The apartment’s main and balcony doors were locked from the inside, suggesting Humaira had been alone at the time of her death.
During the search of the premises, investigators recovered a mysterious white powder stored in three to four small clay vessels. Police confirmed that samples have been sent to a laboratory for chemical testing. While no immediate explanation exists for the presence of the substance, authorities stated that it may have contributed to the unusual smell detected from the body.
“At this point, the exact nature and purpose of the powder remain unknown,” police noted. “We are awaiting detailed chemical analysis to determine whether the substance had any role in her death.”
Earlier investigations ruled out poisoning as a cause of death.
Born on October 10, 1992, in Lahore, Humaira Asghar Ali graduated from the National College of Arts (NCA) and later completed her M.Phil from Punjab University. She began her career as a model in 2013 and later transitioned into acting, with notable appearances in TV dramas and a supporting role in the 2015 film Jalaibee. Her popularity surged following her participation in the 2022 reality show Tamasha Ghar.
Beyond her work in entertainment, Humaira was a painter, sculptor, and fitness influencer, sharing her journey with over 715,000 Instagram followers. Her last social media post, dated September 30, 2024, gave no indication of distress, though her online presence declined significantly in recent months.
An investigation is ongoing, with authorities awaiting toxicology and lab reports to determine the cause of death.
