Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Indicted Plea Challenges Verdict and Seeks Bail

Five days before the February 8 polls The trial court indicted former PM Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in an illegal marriage case after Bushra’s ex-husband Khawar Farid Manika alleged them of an “illicit relationship.

The plea filed by Bushra’s legal counsel Barrister Salman Safdar requested the court to suspend February 3 verdict that had sentenced the former PM and his wife to 7 years in prison. The plea further demanded the issuance of bail orders.

Citing weaknesses in the evidence the plea contends that the verdict cannot be justified on such flawed grounds. Therefore the punishment issued by the trial court cannot be upheld.

The plea further asserts that Bushra was subjected to the worst condition in jail for political motives, stressing the urgent need to address the plea. With the plea already under consideration in the session court Bushra urges the court for timely hearing and decisive actions.
