Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has asked the Supreme Court to give him bail in eight cases related to the May 9 violence. Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had rejected his bail requests.
Imran Khan says the cases against him are not fair. He told the court that he was in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad when the violence happened. So, he could not be involved in those events.
He also said that the police have no strong evidence against him. His appeal says the First Information Reports (FIRs) are weak and full of mistakes. He believes the case should be investigated further.
Imran Khan claims the police waited five months to take action, which he thinks shows bad intentions. He says these cases were made to target him for political reasons and are against his constitutional rights.
The appeal also says that many others involved in the same cases have already received bail.
The LHC had earlier rejected Imran Khan’s bail in eight cases, including attacks on Jinnah House, Askari Tower, and the Shadman Police Station.
